The Institute of International and Comparative Education (IICE) strives to promote communication and cultivate relationships with colleagues worldwide and serves as a bridge for cultural and educational exchange between China and the rest of the world.

IICE introduced to China the thoughts of world-famous educators such as Lyeonid Vladimirovich Zankov, Vasyl Olexandrovych Sukhomlynsky, Yuri Konstatinovich Babansky, Jerome Seymour Bruner, Benjamin Bloom, Martin Wagenschein, Maria Montessori and Howard Gardner, as well as advanced international educational models. And the institute conducted experimental research and promoted their theories and experiences. At the same time, IICE has been also sharing China’s advanced experiences of educational reform and updated findings of theoretical research with the world.

IICE currently cooperates with institutes and universities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Italy, Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Australia, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore and other nations, as well as with international organizations such as UNESCO and UNICEF. The institute participates actively in international cultural exchanges and cooperation, establishing extensive relations through student exchange programs and academic research, the international mobility of graduate students and faculty, as well as the exchange of information.

IICE has an internationalized faculty consisting of 17 full-time teaching staff, over 90% of whom have experiences of studying and working abroad and four received their PhD degrees overseas. The faculty is proficient in many foreign languages including English, Russian, French, German, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese, which enables them to be a multi-lingual research team in comparative education. Many of the faculty have close relations with international scholars and organizations as well as hold several positions in some international organizations.

IICE has been hosting “Worldwide Forum for Comparative Education” every three years since 2002; it has exerted a positive influence on the worldwide comparative education community, by acting as an important communication platform for scholars at home and abroad.
