On February 11, 2023, the 2nd China Basic Education Forum and the 34th Annual Academic Conference of the Chinese Society of Education was held in Beijing. HUAI Jinpeng, head of the Secretary Group of the Central Leading Group for Education, Secretary of the Party Group and Minister of Education, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The forum was co-organized by the Chinese Society of Education, Beijing Municipal Education Commission and Beijing Normal University. IICE Prof. LIU Baocun was invited to attend the main conference, while IICE set up a branch of the Comparative Education Society in Yingdong Building of Beijing Normal University. About 30 students and faculty members listened and watched the conference live in the sub-court.

With the theme of "Implementing the Spirit of the 20th CPC National Congress and Accelerating the Construction of High-Quality Education System - Basic Education in Action", the two-day forum was held in a combination of offline and online. The forum showcased the cutting-edge progress, academic achievements and practical exploration of China's basic education reform and development. The forum emphasized that the report of the 20th CPC National Congress made a special chapter on "Invigorating China through Science and Education and Developing a Strong Workforce for the Modernization Drive", and put forward the general requirements and strategic plans for running a good education to the satisfaction of the people, fully reflecting the high regard of the Party Central Committee for the basic education. We should always take the establishment of moral education as the fundamental task, vigorously promote educational equity, accelerate the construction of high-quality education system, and unite to write a new chapter in the reform and development of education.
