On October 12-13, 2023, IICE Professor Teng Jun, Doctor Hu Yiyun and Doctor Jing Xiaoli led the project team to conduct the second round of tests for the 2023 Global Competency Monitoring for Primary and Secondary School Students in Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone, in cooperation with the local Bureau of Education, Culture, Sports and Physical Education.

On October 12, 22 primary and secondary schools in Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone successfully conducted this round of testing. The test was divided into two parts, questionnaire and contextual test, for the fifth grade, eighth grade and sophomore year students of the sample schools, and rich monitoring data were formed and collected.

On October 12-13, members of IICE project team went to each of the 11 primary and secondary schools participating in the current round of monitoring, and conducted focus group interviews with the seed teachers of international understanding education and students who had received international understanding education in the schools, so as to gain an in-depth understanding of the implementation of international understanding education in each school.

Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone has continuously deepened international understanding education in primary and secondary schools in recent years and strengthened the construction of international understanding education curriculum system. The Global Competency Monitoring for Primary and Secondary School Students is aimed at understanding the current implementation of international understanding education in the district, so as to further promote the improvement of the curriculum and teaching in schools. The current round of testing combines questionnaires, contextual monitoring and focus group interviews to understand the current situation of international understanding education from the perspectives of students and teachers, with a view to further enriching and deepening the development of international understanding education in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone in the future.
