On October 29, 2023, the online launch of the Chinese version of NORRAG's Special Issue 7 titled "Education in the Era of Climate Change" was successfully held. IICE Professor TENG Jun and Associate Professor HUANG Yu served as the chief editors of the Chinese edition, and a IICE research team participated in the translation and the creation of local original articles for the special issue.

At the beginning of the launch event, IICE Professor TENG Jun introduced the basic information about NORRAG's special issue to the teachers and students participating in the launch. Following that, IICE Associate Professor HUANG Yu provided a detailed interpretation of the theme and manuscript principles of the Chinese version of the special issue, focusing on the development of climate change education.

The Chinese edition of this special issue focuses on education in the era of climate change. It includes 12 articles from the original NORRAG Special Issue 7 and two Chinese special contributions written by IICE research team. The issue begins with an overview of viewpoints and then explores seven major themes including "Expansive Learning Across Boundaries and Its Role", "Transformative Learning, Activism, and Relationship Building", "Introducing Diverse Knowledge in Addressing Climate Change", "Young Generation and Calls for Climate Action", "Children's Voices in Climate Action", "Advancing Higher Education Transformation for a Sustainable Future", and "Inclusive and Responsive Educational Transformation for a Sustainable Future". These themes comprehensively reflect the rich research perspectives and methods adopted by researchers worldwide in studying "Education in the Era of Climate Change", showcasing diverse educational initiatives around the world to address climate change issues.

Following this, the research team led by Professor TENG and Associate Professor HUANG emphasized sharing the localized research results published in the Chinese version of this special issue. IICE Master's student Xu Zixiao presented a review of the special issue's core content titled "Education in the Era of Climate Change: A Review of NORRAG Special Issue 07", discussing how countries around the world are advancing educational reforms mainly through "expansion" and "transcendence" in the era of climate change. The former involves expanding organizational, cognitive and content boundaries, while the latter primarily involves regenerative shaping, active participation, creative intervention and responsive change. The review concludes with a forward-looking perspective on a sustainable education system for humanity's common future.

During the interactive session, IICE master's student Zeng Jiabei presented a systematic review and discussion titled "Empowering Farmers for Climate Change Adaption in China". The presentation delved into China's efforts in empowering farmers to address climate challenges through climate change education, emphasizing key policies and actions for constructing a climate-adaptive society. She clearly expounded on the concepts of "climate change adaptation capacity" and "agricultural climate change adaptive behavior", elucidating the relationship between climate change education and farmers' adaptive capacity to climate change. Furthermore, the analysis covered specific policies and practical measures taken by the Chinese government to enhance the climate change adaptation capacity of Chinese farmers through climate change education. The presentation also provided a thoughtful reflection on the current state of climate change education for farmers in China.

In the interactive segment, teachers and students engaged in in-depth discussions on the presented content, exploring issues such as "How to tell the story of climate change education in China" and "How to promote the integration of climate change education".
