IICE Professor YANG Mingquan Attended the Beijing Forum on High-Quality Development of Basic Education in China

On September 23, 2023, the Beijing Forum on High-Quality Development of Basic Education in China was held at the Beijing International Conference Center. IICE Professor Yang Mingquan chaired the discussion activities in the fourth sub-forum with the theme "High-Quality Development and Diverse Specialized Education in High Schools." There were six panelists who delivered presentations in the sub-forum, shedding light on diverse aspects of specialized education in regular high schools.


Professor Song Naiqing, the Director of the Southwest Basic Education Curriculum Research Center of the Ministry of Education, gave a presentation titled "Value-Added Assessment Promotes High-Quality Development of Basic Education." He thoroughly analyzed value-added assessment in the context of educational evaluation reform in China.


Mr. Tian Xiangping, the Principal of Chongqing Nankai Middle School Education Group, presented "Education Should Look Different," which provided a systematic introduction to the school's educational experiences.


Principal Ma Jinglin from Beijing Fourth High School shared insights in his presentation "About the Classroom - What We Think and What We Want to Do," which elaborated on the school's experiences with its unique educational practices, starting from the perspective of classroom teaching.

Mr. Shao Aiguo, the Secretary of the Shenzhen Senior High School, presented "Exploration of Diverse Development in High Schools under the Background of Group Operation." He discussed the challenges faced by group operation in education and shared the experiences of Shenzhen Senior High School.


Principal Ren Weidong from Beijing No. 80 High School delivered a presentation titled "Innovation, Excellence, and Diversity: Promoting School's Specialized Development through Curriculum Construction," where he shared the school's experiences in curriculum development based on an educational philosophy of innovation, excellence, and diversity.


Finally, Principal Sun Xili from Nanjing Jinling High School introduced "High School-Higher Education Collaboration in Brief," explaining the basic practices of collaboration between Jinling High School and higher education institutions and discussing new mechanisms for cooperation between high schools and colleges.


The diverse and insightful presentations by the panelists sparked enthusiastic discussions among the attendees, resulting in positive feedback and active engagement.
