On February 18, 2023, the 23rd China Annual Conference & International Symposium on Secondary Education for International Education was held in Beijing. The theme was "Inspiration and Action for Transformation of Secondary Education", which was attended by scholars and principals from universities, primary and secondary schools at home and abroad. IICE Professor LIU Baocun and Professor TENG Jun were invited to attend the symposium. Professor LIU delivered a keynote speech entitled "The International Experience of Global Competence Education and China's Exploration of the Connotation, History and Experience of Chinese Education Modernization", and Professor TENG hosted the special report.

Professor LIU analyzed the background of the emergence of Global Competence Education and introduced the experiences of major countries and international organizations in the world in developing Global Competence Education. He pointed out that China has also made many explorations in primary and secondary schools about Global Competence Education and international understanding education, and has made a certain impact in the international arena. China should take the training of global citizens as the starting point, the theory of human destiny community as the guidance, the traditional Chinese cultural thought as the basis, and the sustainable development as the orientation, and construct the connotation, dimensions, elements as well as the index system of Global Competence Education in Chinese.
