IICE Professor TENG Jun and Lecturer JING Xiaoli Attended the Symposium on the Management of Foreign Teachers in the International Departments of Public High Schools in Beijing

On November 30, 2023, IICE hosted a symposium on the management of foreign teachers in the international departments of public high schools in Beijing at Room 723 in the Yingdong Building. Deputy Director XU Dandan from the International Cooperation and Exchange Division of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, along with responsible teachers from five Beijing public high schools' international departments attended the symposium. The event was co-chaired by IICE Professor TENG Jun and Lecturer JING Xiaoli.


The symposium aimed to gain a deeper understanding of the recruitment and management of foreign teachers in the international departments of public schools in Beijing. Discussions were held on various themes such as the recruitment, management, life in China and cultural adaptation of foreign teachers. During the meeting, teachers from different schools shared their educational philosophies. They engaged in extensive discussions on common issues regarding talent recruitment, teacher training and proposed innovative suggestions such as establishing a talent pool for foreign teachers and expanding joint recruitment channels.


Furthermore, the schools emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and identity among foreign teachers. They expressed the necessity for foreign teachers to have a better understanding of the Chinese education system and culture, enabling them to adapt and integrate better into local life.


Towards the end of the symposium, the participating schools reached a consensus, expressing their commitment to actively promote comprehensive research on Sino-foreign cooperation in high school education throughout all aspects and processes. The attending teachers also pledged to diligently implement the suggestions raised during the meeting. They acknowledged this opportunity as a means to enhance the soundness of the management system for foreign teachers and to foster broader opportunities for in-depth cultural exchanges between China and other countries.
