Publish Date:2020-12-22

IICE Professor WANG Yingjie published "Three Topics of Education Internationalization in the Post-epidemic Era" in the 9th issue of Comparative Education Research in 2020. In the article, Professor WANG Yingjie pointed out that the current epidemic, international de-globalization and economic austerity pose severe challenges to the development of educational cooperation across boundaries. However, Professor WANG argues, education should stand at the forefront of internationalization, cultivate qualified talents and provide basic services and support to build a community of human destiny.

In the post-COVID era, Prof. WANG posits that there are three important issues for China’s internationalization of education. Firstly, in the context of the major transition of China-US relations, educational exchanges between the two countries are still the key and core of China’s educational internationalization. The countries should seek new room for and strengthen the advancement of educational cooperation out of the current twists and turns. Secondly, the policies regarding expanding the enrollment of international students to study in China may need to be adjusted. The focus is supposed to shift from quantitative development to the improvement of quality. Thirdly, the importance of local internationalization” of education must be highlighted with relevant adjustment of university governance.
