From August 4 to 5, 2020, Professor PAN Maoyuan’s 85th Anniversary of Teaching and the New Era of China’s Higher Education Reform and Development Forum was held at Xiamen University. The day was also Prof. PAN’s 100th birthday. More than 400 experts and scholars from all over the country participated in the on-site conference for the celebration in Xiamen. PAN Maoyuan is commonly regarded as an important founder of Higher Education Studies in China.

IICE Professor Liu Baocun attended the conference and delivered a speech entitled “China's Educational Soft Power from the Perspective of International Comparison: Current Situation, Problems and Prospects”. Prof. LIU began the speech by stating that how to evaluate and improve the soft power of China's education is a topic of general concern. He then analyzed the connotation and structure of soft power in education. Based on the international evaluation and ranking of soft power in various countries, he made a comparative study on the soft power of education in China and some other countries in the world, and analyzed the current situation and problems of soft power in China’s education. Finally, Prof. LIU shared some policy recommendations for improving China’s educational soft power.
