On June 20, 2024, at the invitation of Shanxi Publishing & Media Group, IICE Associate Professor HU Yiyun, along with members of the translation team, attended the book launch of the Spanish edition of The Cultural Foundations of Chinese Education at the Beijing International Conference Center as the translators. The original book was written by Professor GU Mingyuan from IICE, Beijing Normal University. During the event, Associate Professor HU answered questions from the organizers and the audience, sharing her insights on topics such as the cultural foundations of Chinese education and the openness of education to the world. She emphasized, as Mr. GU stated in his book, that contemporary Chinese education should "be rooted in China" while "looking to the world". On this basis, efforts should be made to expand the level of openness in education and accelerate educational innovation.

Associate Professor HU also shared her reflections on the translation process. She mentioned that maintaining the accuracy and cultural uniqueness of the original work was a key focus for the translation team. This required taking into account the cultural background and linguistic habits of Spanish-speaking readers and adjusting the translation accordingly, aiming to convey the most precise meaning with the most concise expressions. The goal was to ensure that readers could truly appreciate the unique charm of The Cultural Foundations of Chinese Education.

At the end, Associate Professor HU expressed her gratitude to the organizers and the publisher, expressing the hope that the book would broaden the horizons of foreign readers and serve as a window for Spanish-speaking readers to gain a deeper understanding of Chinese education. The successful launch of the Spanish edition of The Cultural Foundations of Chinese Education and the accompanying academic symposium have laid a solid foundation for enhancing Western understanding of Chinese education and promoting mutual recognition of educational and cultural values between China and the West. It also provides strong support for fostering cross-cultural exchange and understanding between Chinese and Western education systems.
