On December 7, 2021, IICE Professor XIAO Su delivered a lecture entitled “30 Years of Educational Reform in Russia——Review and Prospect” for IICE’s International Education Podium. The lecture was chaired by IICE Professor LIU Baocun and attended by faculty members and graduate students from the IICE.
Professor XIAO first introduced that this lecture was also based on the “Research on Education Systems and Policies of Different Types of Countries along ‘One Belt, One Road’”, a major project in the Key Base of MOE (Ministry of Education in China) Project of Humanities and Social Sciences. Professor XIAO’s presentation was structured around four major sections, including the characteristics of the stages of Russia’s education reform, the clues of Russia’s education policy, the major initiatives in Russia’s education reform, and the development trend of education in the Putin 4.0 period.
In the introduction to the 30 years of education reform in Russia, the background to the development of education in Russia is outlined, and the distinctive features of education in Russia in different historical periods are introduced by the “three-dimensional approach”; in the overview of 30 years of education policy, the core contents of important policies are explained based on the time line of education policy enactment; in terms of major initiatives in the 30 years of education reform, the focus is on the reform of the education system, the reform of teaching and learning in general education, the reform of the education evaluation system and the reform of the international competitiveness of higher education; in terms of the development of education in the Putin 4.0 period, the orientation and prospects of Russia’s educational development in the “Long Putin Era” were analyzed at the international and domestic levels.
The introduction of Russia’s soft power in education to enhance national competitiveness and deepen patriotic education brought profound thoughts to the students and teachers. At the end of the lecture, she had further discussions with teachers and students.
