On November 23, 2021, IICE Professor LIU Baocun delivered a lecture entitled “The Development Trend of Global International Student Education and the Strategic Choice of International Student Education in China” for IICE’s International Education Podium.

Professor LIU began his lecture by interpreting the development of global international student education from four aspects, including the value orientation and realistic picture, the policy path, the challenges and the development trend of international student education. After that, based on the analysis of the historical development stages of international student education in China, he revealed the challenges and problems faced by international student education in China. Finally, he pointed out that in order to promote the further development of education for international students in China, we need to do these six things: The first is to establish the value orientation of education for international students in China; the second is to strengthen the brand of “study in China”; the third is to give priority to improving the quality of education; the fourth is to strengthen the program for high-end talents studying in China; the fifth is to play the leading role of Chinese government scholarships; the sixth is to build a socialized and professional service system for studying in China.

At the end of the lecture, Professor Liu had further discussions with teachers and students, and wrapped it up with a short summary.
