Lecture (No. 100): The Global Partnership for Education

 On December 5, 2016, Professor Karen Mundy, the CEO of the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) delivered a lecture for IICE’s International Education Podium. The lecture was chaired by IICE Professor LIU Baocun and attended by faculty and graduate students, including international students from the IICE.

 

Professor Mundy is also a professor at the University of Toronto, Canada. Since 2014, she has been in charge of GPE as CEO, mostly responsible for policy planning and making, and other types of operation for the organization.

 

Centering on GPE, Professor Mundy introduced its mission, partners, and current development, as well as the “new connotations for international education.” In addition, Professor Mundy introduced GPE’s plans and vision in 2020 from the perspectives of improved learning and equity through building stronger education systems. As well, she elaborated upon the accountability mechanism of GPE, whose core issues include evidence-based departmental planning and investment, multiple dialogues cored with LEGs, JSRs, CSEF, and continually improved outcomes and financing.
