Higher Education and Employment: International Education Symposium (No.74)

On May 14, 2015, Professor Ulrich Teichler from the University of Kassel gave the above-titled lecture for the IICE’s International Education Podium. Associate Professor LIU Min chaired the lecture, which was attended by over sixty Chinese and foreign teachers and students from Beijing Normal University and other universities.


       As a leading world expert on higher education, Professor Ulrich Teichler has served as Vice-president of the University of Kassel, Germany, Director of the International Centre for Higher Education Research, and an expert at international organizations such as UNESCO, OECD, and EU. His main research interests include comparative studies on higher education, student mobility, higher education and employment, quality monitoring and assessment of higher education. He has published over 1200 papers and over 60 books.

      
      In this lecture, Professor Teichler discussed the relationship between higher education and employment, including sharing his research on the state of employment, job satisfaction and matching degrees of majors and professional skills in ten European countries, analyzing the importance of education research on education decision-making.
