International Education Symposium (No.72): Quantitative Methods in Education Research

         On April 2, 2015, as part of the IICE’s International Education Podium, Associate Professor BAI Haiyan from the Department of Educational and Human Sciences at the University of Central Florida delivered the above-titled introductory lecture for BNU doctoral and Master’s students. IICE Associate Professor SUN Jin chaired the lecture.


        Associate Professor BAI earned her Ph.D. degree in quantitative research methodology at the University of Cincinnati (Ohio, USA). She has chaired and reviewed multiple research projects funded by US federal agencies including the Department of Education (DOE), the National Science Foundation, and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and has published over 50 papers in US and other top international journals. She is also the author of two books on quantitative research methods.


        Following an overview of how to conduct quantitative research, Associate Professor BAI discussed key dilemmas in the field, described the field’s curriculum for US Master’s students, and presented an example of a quantitative thesis to the students.
