International Education Symposium (No.66) :Global Architectures for Educational Development Beyond 2015 and the Millennium Development Goals

            On September 22, 2014, Keith Lewin, professor of International Education and Development Research Center, University of Sussex, Britain, brought to IICE his lecture titled “Global Architectures for Educational Development Beyond 2015 and the Millennium Development Goals” in Room 723, Yingdong Building, Beijing Normal University. The presentation was moderated by Professor Liu Baocun and attended by international master and doctoral students of the only-English-speaking program as well as some master students from IICE.
          Professor Keith Lewin, a distinguished scholar in the field of international and comparative education and the former chairman of the Institute of British International and Comparative Education, is now director of International Education and Development Research Center in University of Sussex, Britain. Besides, he is the longterm senior consultant of some international organizations, such as the World Bank, UNICEF, UNESO, etc. His research fields include education programming, teacher education, educational economy and finance, technological education policy, etc. In his lecture, Professor Keith Lewin mainly talked about the implementation of Education for All Goals (EFAG) and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) which the UN set at the conference of Education for All in Jomtien (a hotel), Thailand, 1990 and in Dakar, Senega, 2000. Then he talked about what should be focused after 2015.  Professor Keith Lewin gave priority to the exploration and analysis of the international cutting-edge theories. On the basis of the introduction of the implementation of MDGs and EFAG, Professor Keith Lewin emphatically analyzed the attitudes towards the aforesaid policy and the implementation measures of the international organizations and developed countries.
          In the end, Professor Keith Lewin had an in-depth exchanges and discussions about the related issues with the students. The lecture was crowned with complete success.
