At 18:00 on October 28, 2013, Prof. Bulow-Schramm from University of Hamburg gave a lecture titled “Successful Learning Conditions in Bologna? Influencing factors of students’ Achievement and interventions in teaching in Germany (Erfolgreich studieren unter den Bologna-Bedingungen? Einflussfaktoren fur den Studienerfolg und hochschuldidaktische Interventionen im Bachelorstudium in Deutschland)” for the 47th International Education Symposium of International and Comparative Education Research Institute in Room 723, Yingdong Building, Beijing Normal University. The lecture was hosted and translated by Sun Jinfu. The undergraduates, postgraduates and international postgraduates in each grades from International and Comparative Education Research Institute attended this lecture actively.
The main fields of study of Prof. Bulow-Schramm include: higher education teaching evaluation, the empirical study of colleges and universities and undergraduates, quality management in the educational field and innovative methods of teaching. This lecture was carried out from four respects. First, Prof. Bulow-Schramm talked about the influence on German higher education from Bologna Process, especially on the academic structure. Second, he introduced the research objects and achievements of the academic process of undergraduates and the NSuS. Third, he analyzed the key factor of obstructing the academic success of students. Forth, he pointed out the intervention of teaching method in colleges and universities and gave some suggestions to it.
Lastly, Prof. Bulow-Schramm had a discussion with the audiences and answered questions.
