At 9:00 a.m. on October 25, 2013, Dr. Rainer Lisowski from University of Applied Sciences, Osnabruck, Germany, gave a lecture titled “The Science System and Its Relationship to Politics, Economy and Culture: A Plea for Tight Cooperation on the Local Level” for the 45th International Education Symposium of International and Comparative Education Research Institute in Room 454, Yingdong Building, Beijing Normal University. The doctoral and master’s students from IICE and the students of Erasmus Mundus Master program attended this lecture actively.
Dr. Rainer Lisowski pointed out that with the dramatic development of technology and the shift from an extensive economic growth mode to an intensive economic growth mode, the advancement is becoming the engine and one of the determinate factors of economic growth. The 21st century being a century of science, science and technology have a significant influence on every aspect of human life. Science and politics are two subsystems of the whole social system. Their mutual effects mainly lie in that the ideology of technology challenges the legitimacy of politics, and that the political thinking subverts the scientific thinking and influences technological achievements. Last but not least, Dr. Rainer Lisowski explained the science system and its relationship to politics, economy and culture on a local level.
Lastly, Dr. Rainer Lisowski had a great discussion with the audience regarding the topic of this lecture.
