At 1:00 p.m., June 24, 2013, Mr. W. James Jacob, director of the International Education Research Center at University of Pittsburgh and associate professor of Education Institute, gave a lecture titled “Teaching Across Borders: The Global Higher Education Classroom In The 21st Century” for the 43rd International Education Symposium of the Institute of International and Comparative Education in Room 723, Yingdong Building, Beijing Normal University. The lecture was hosted by Mr. Yang Mingquan. The Doctoral and Master’s students in each grades and some of the faculty from International and Comparative Education Research Institute attended this lecture.
The main fields of study of Mr. W. James Jacob include: Higher Education Management, comprehensive prevention and control of HIV/AIDS, capacity building and management system, the culture in the post-secondary education, language and value, quality assurance, organization development, strategic planning of higher education, organizational performance and so on. Mr. W. James Jacob thought that The Cross Border Higher Education has become a worldwide topic which had carried international attention, and it is a main component of wide internationalization of education and also an inevitable result of education reform under a background of globalization. The Cross Border Higher Education is a phenomenon of running school cross-nationally, an activity, a process and a supply mode of higher education. The Cross Border Higher Education can give some enlightenment and experience for speeding up the education reform of our country, advancing leapfrog development of higher education and improving the integral level and the international competitiveness of higher education.
