International Education Symposium (No.41) :Academic Norms: Plagiarism and Referencing

      Professor David Turner of University of Glamorgan presented his lecture “Academic Norms: Plagiarism and Referencing.” Dr. LIU Qiang moderated the lecture proceedings, while many IICE staff and students attended the event.
     Prof. David Turner is a well-known professor at the University of Glamorgan, he is a member of the International Comparative Association executive board, and also a “Project 985” visiting professor at Beijing Normal University. Prof. Turner believes that plagiarism is a serious academic misconduct, thus it is vital to cite sources properly to avoid plagiarism.   In order to master the proper approach to academic writing, Prof. Turner thinks that a multi-tier training and conscientious academic approach among students should be encouraged.
      Last but not least, Prof. Turner enjoyed a discussion with the audience about the right approach to avoid plagiarism and used real life examples to make the lecture lively and enriching.
