On November 28th, 2012, Associate Editor of the Comparative Education Review gave a speech to students at IICE titled “How to write an excellent academic paper: a Comparative Education Review approach.” The lecture is hosted by Prof. LIU Baocun, and over 70 members of the graduate department were present.
Ms. Zeng has been in the editorial post for many years and has rich experience in how to compose an academic paper. Her lecture included three components. First, she introduced the ey characteristics of an academic paper, i.e. topic choice, perspective, methodology, and bibliography. Second, she emphasized the structure of academic writing. The focus should be to amplify scientific reasoning and plotting overall structure. Third, Ms. Zeng elaborated on choosing a topic, the finding and analyzing of resources for structural explanations, and written language tips for the audience.
Last but not least, Ms. Zeng led a discussion with the audience about writing academic paper; her lecture was not only resourceful, she had many examples from published sources and analyzed them to further develop her points.
