International Education Symposium (No.32): Prof. Jean Dorey from France

       On November 2nd, 2012, CEO of former École Centrale and Dean of Centrale Pekin, gave a lecture titled “Some Aspects of Higher Education in France and China.” The lecture seminar was hosted by Dr. LIU Min. Prof. Dorey gave a very informational and lively lecture that inspired many of the students and staff present.
       Professor Dorey introduced the rich history of French Higher Education and the characteristics of French elite education, and illustrated the challenges and opportunities that the Bologna process and the Construction de l'espace européen d'enseignement supérieur  has brought to French Higher Education in light of the dual-track systems under globalization influences. Prof. Dorey has been involved in education in China for many years; he used ample examples to analyze the differences in education philosophy, curriculum design, and teaching techniques, and explained these differences through a cultural perspective. Lastly, Prof. Dorey also discussed the future trends in future European Higher Education, and made several suggestions for Higher Education development in China.
       A post-lecture discussion was held, Prof. Dorey and the audience enjoyed a great exchange of views.
