International Education Symposium (No.31): Keith Lewin, Professor, University of Sussex, UK

        Professor Keith Lewin from University of Sussex, UK gave a lecture at IICE titled “Revisiting the Internationally Agreed Education for All Goals for Education: Making Rights Realities.” The lecture was hosted by Prof. WANG Lu, and many staff and students in the Faculty of Education attended the event.
        Prof. Keith Lewin is a professor at the Center for International Education Research at the University of Sussex; he was also the former Chairman of the British International and Comparative Education Association. Prof. Keith Lewin has a long friendship with Beijing Normal University, established strong ties with BNU for the past 20 years through many academic visits, and was named an adjunct professor at BNU.
        The lecture first started with a discussion of The Education for All Goals (EFAGs), Prof. Lewin pointed out the issues associated with the goal setting and implementation of EFAGs. He cited many examples, sources, and data to conceptualize the concrete situations and problems. The discussion further explored the background of and reasons to these problems, and analyzed the role governments and international organizations play in solving education issues. Notwithstanding the first-hand data, Prof. Lewin brought a whole new experience for the audience with his critical comments.
        Towards the end of the lecture, Prof. Lewin held a Q&A session, and gave away many CDs and journal articles to the audience.
