On October 13, 2023, IICE Professor Teng Jun, Doctor Hu Yiyun and Doctor Jing Xiaoli led the project team members to Chengdu Horsens Primary School to attend International Understanding Education Subject Infiltration Same-Class Seminar in the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone.
Before the seminar, Zeng Xia, Secretary of the Party Branch and Principal of Horsens Primary School, delivered a welcome speech and announced the official start of the workshop.

During the seminar, Ma Liang, a teacher and researcher of Beijing No.4 Middle School Online School Dragon's Gate Large Language Teaching and Research Centre, and Li Xing, a language teacher of Horsens Primary School, respectively demonstrated the lesson examples of international understanding penetration around the lesson "The Poor" in the Ministry-edited version of the language textbook. After the lesson, a number of participating teachers at the scene expressed their thoughts on their gains, confusions and suggestions, and had in-depth exchanges.


Finally, Minister Liu Jihong of the Development Department of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Education Development Centre and IICE Professor Teng commented on the two lesson examples and gave guidance on the concrete implementation of the subject penetration of international understanding education.

Minister Liu clearly pointed out the commonalities between the core qualities of academic subjects and the core qualities of international understanding education from the perspectives of objectives, contents, teaching organisation and evaluation, and emphasized that he hoped more students would benefit from the subject penetration of international understanding.
IICE Professor Teng emphasizes that the infiltration of disciplines in education for international understanding requires two parallel lines, one in which you have me and the other in which I have you. On the one hand, it is necessary to hold the gate of the discipline and set the tone of the discipline; on the other hand, it is also necessary to help students to look at the world from the viewpoint of international understanding on the basis of a good grasp of the underlying logic of the discipline. Therefore, it is all the more important for teachers to continue to refine and cultivate their own internal skills, so as to truly realize the subject penetration of international understanding education.

The atmosphere was warm and active, and the participating teachers said that they had gained inspiration from the seminar, and that they would make better use of what they had learned to develop subject-pervasive courses on education for international understanding in the future.
In recent years, Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone has been deepening international understanding education in primary and secondary schools and strengthening the construction of international understanding education curriculum system. This seminar discussed in depth the current situation and future direction of the implementation of international understanding education in subject penetration, with a view to further enriching and deepening the development of international understanding education in Chengdu Hi-tech Zone.
