To deeply study and implement the spirit of the National Education Conference, promote the educator spirit, and foster high-quality development of the teaching force in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Seminar on the Promotion of the Educator Spirit (Hong Kong-Macao Session) and Academic Symposium on Teacher Ethics and Conduct Construction in the Greater Bay Area was held in Macao on November 9. The event was guided by the Teacher Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education and the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, with strong support from the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region. It was co-hosted by the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao SAR Government and South China Normal University, and organized by the Teacher Ethics and Conduct Construction Base (South China Normal University) and the Macao Chinese Education Association. IICE Professor TENG Jun was invited to participate in the seminar.
At the opening ceremony, an official from the Teacher Affairs Department of the Ministry of Education emphasized that, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, the promotion of the educator spirit in Hong Kong and Macao marks a significant step in implementing the National Education Conference spirit, strengthening the teaching workforce, and advancing innovative and collaborative educational development between mainland China and the Hong Kong-Macao region. The official expressed hope that educators and principals in Hong Kong and Macao would deeply understand the contemporary significance of the educator spirit, promote patriotism, cultivate strong political integrity, foster noble teacher ethics, and improve teaching and educational excellence. They were encouraged to become pioneers in promoting the educator spirit, contributors to building a high-quality teaching workforce in the new era, and facilitators of educational exchanges and cooperation between mainland China and Hong Kong-Macao. This effort aims to accelerate the construction of a strong education system, advance Chinese modernization, and contribute to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
An official from the Fourth Bureau of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council noted that promoting the educator spirit in the Hong Kong and Macao education community holds significant and far-reaching importance. They called on the education community in Hong Kong and Macao to fully embrace the spirit of contemporary educators, adhere to the fundamental mission of fostering virtue through education, focus on teacher ethics and conduct, and enhance professional development, contributing tirelessly to the high-quality development of education in Hong Kong and Macao. The event was featured in the November 9 evening broadcast of CCTV's “Xinwen Lianbo” program.
IICE Professor TENG Jun participated in thematic discussions and a roundtable forum during the event. In the thematic discussion titled “Research on Self-Cultivation of Teacher Ethics Guided by the Educator Spirit”, Professor TENG served as a reviewing expert, engaging in academic exchanges on the topic with experts and scholars from Hong Kong, Macao, and mainland China. During the roundtable forum, Professor TENG joined Professor WU Yingmin, Vice President of the Chinese Society of Education; Professor ZOU Bing'en from the Education University of Hong Kong; Professor SONG Ye, Vice President of Henan Normal University; Associate Professor ZHOU Yisu, Director of the Doctoral Program at the University of Macau’s Faculty of Education; and Professor SONG Huan, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Education at Beijing Normal University, to discuss “Teacher Ethics and Conduct Construction Guided by the Educator Spirit”.
The event, themed “Promoting the Educator Spirit and Strengthening Teacher Ethics and Conduct Construction”, featured keynote speeches by Professor SU Dekuang from Zhejiang University, Principal LI Longmei from the Chongqing Special Education Center, Professor YU Cheng from Wuhan City Vocational College, Principal WU Rongjin from Huangpu District Luwan No. 1 Central Primary School in Shanghai, and Vice Principal CHEN Hong from Macao Hou Kong Middle School.
