Publish Date:2024-07-19

From July 19 to 23, 2024, IICE Professor JIANG Yingmin and her academic team traveled to Changzhou to provide academic guidance for the "International Understanding Education Curriculum Development and Teaching Practice" project, jointly implemented by IICEs Center for International Understanding Education and the National Management Office of the AFS Program of the China Education International Exchange Association. Key teachers from international understanding education experimental schools in Beijing, Jiangsu, Ningxia, Sichuan, Guangdong, Hebei, and Chongqing participated in the project activities.

The project, themed "Modern China and the World", consists of two main modules: the first focuses on "International Understanding Education Teaching Practice" for curriculum development, and the second is the "AFS STEM International Academic Camp - China Camp", which focuses on experiential teaching practice. During the first module from July 19 to 21, Professor JIANG Yingmin guided the project teachers through curriculum development for international understanding education via thematic lectures, teaching design workshops, lesson presentations, and research discussions.

On July 22, during the second module, Professor JIANG coached WANG Yue, a teacher from Ningbo Binhai International Cooperation School, as she conducted a class titled "When My Friend Moved My Chocolate", focusing on international understanding education for both Chinese and international students attending the AFS STEM International Academic Camp. The class included 60 students from 15 countries, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Japan, who actively participated in discussions.

The core teachers involved in this project gained valuable experience in developing international understanding education curricula, while the 60 Chinese and international students had the opportunity to experience a vibrant and engaging international understanding education lesson. The successful implementation of this project has laid a solid foundation for the subsequent development and promotion of international understanding education curricula at experimental schools.
