From December 15th to 17th, 2020, the 5th “Belt and Road” International Conference on Higher Education Research was held in Beijing. The conference was hosted by Beijing Institute of Technology. Chinese and international scholars from more than 20 universities home and abroad participated in the conference.

IICE Professor WANG Yingjie and Professor LIU Baocun were invited to attend this conference, and respectively presented the speech entitled “The Internationalization of Higher Education in the Post-epidemic Period: Problems and Countermeasures”, and “The Progress and Development of the Regional Integration of ASEAN Higher Education". Professor WANG Yingjie elaborated on the international exchanges between Chinese and American higher education, the education of international students in China, and the internationalization of education. He pointed out that the current epidemic, international de-globalization and economic austerity pose severe challenges to the whole world’s development. He emphasized the importance of internationalization of higher education to cultivate qualified talents and provide basic services and support for building a “community with shared future for mankind”. Professor LIU Baocun analyzed the progress and existing problems in the regional integration of ASEAN higher education, and put forward policy recommendations on how to further the higher education cooperation between China and ASEAN.
