On September 16, 2019, the opening ceremony of a national basic education experimental site jointly set up by IICE and Chengdu Gaoxin District Education Development Center was held in Chengdu. IICE Director Professor LIU Baocun, Vice Director Professor TENG Jun and Professor JIANG Yingmin attended the ceremony.

During the opening ceremony, Prof. LIU delivered remarks and Prof. JIANG introduced one of the focuses of the experimental site --- education for international understanding. Prof. TENG illustrated on the selection of relevant experimental school, seed courses and seed teachers.

The experimental site is aimed at strengthening the role of education for international understanding, enhancing international literacy of secondary school teachers, preparing for the co-organization of an international educational conference, and developing a guidebook for relevant courses on education for international understanding.

In the following training sessions, Prof. LIU delivered a lecture entitled ‘Reform of basic education in developed countries’, and Prof. JIANG lectured on ‘Experiences and Implications of Educational Reform in South Korea’.
