Apart from extending congratulations, Prof. GU pointed out that as Chinese education is undergoing profound reforms and transitions nowadays, including the modernization of educational ideas, it is the institutions, management and administration, as well as the timely update of educational contents, that matters most. Prof. GU emphasized the importance of reforming the current way of teaching students in the many schools in which rote learning remains a dominant method of education. He called for more thorough research into how schools and teachers could manage to successfully prepare students with powerful qualities such as creative thinking, critical thinking, praxis ability, and a high sense of responsibility, and noted that these research tasks inevitably should be born by the newly founded Haidian District Educational Science and Research Institute. 

As a member of the academic council of HDESRI, Prof. GU expressed his strong support of the future development of the newly established Institute and education in Haidian District in general.
