      Mr. Philippe Mogentale and Mr. Didier Hetet from the Department of Cultural and Education Cooperation, French Embassy in China, visited IICE. Director WU Haitao, Department of International Affairs, Faculty of Education, Director LIU Baocun and Dr. LIU Min, IICE greeted the guests.
      Director WU first introduced the Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University and cordially welcomed our French guests. Then, Director LIU introduced the history of education research, cooperation, and faculty exchange that IICE has been involved in with French education. Following these descriptive introductions, Mr. Mogentale gave a brief outline of the work the Department of Education at the French Embassy does, and expressed the strong willingness to support the Center for French Education Research and Exchange that IICE is planning to establish. He also encourages Beijing Normal University to use this platform to further the exchange and cooperation in French and Chinese education. Dr. LIU Min presented the details in regards to establishing the French Education Resource Room and the introduction of the new international PhD program in Education Leadership and Policy. Finally, both parties agreed on the joint effort to advance the installation of the platform for cooperation and exchange between Chinese and French education.
     The meeting lasted over two hours and the discussions were lively. It was very helpful to deepen both parties’ understanding of Chinese and French education systems, and the French officials gained a good understanding of IICE’s French education research and the importance of its work in Sino-French education exchange.
