In June 2024, IICE Professor TENG Jun's book The Evolution and Analysis of UNESCO’s Educational Policy Discourse was officially published by Higher Education Press. This work is a result of the National Social Science Fund's post-funded project, titled "The Evolution and Analysis of UNESCO’s Educational Discourse (1945-2015)" (Grant No. 17FJK006).
Since its establishment in 1945, UNESCO has played a pivotal role as a "ideas-laboratory, standard-setter, capacity-builder, information-hub, and international cooperation-promoter", consistently leading global education development. Using Michel Foucault's discourse theory as the methodological framework, The Evolution and Analysis of UNESCO’s Educational Policy Discourse employs official data and anthropological content analysis to explore the organizational characteristics, educational policy discourse systems, and underlying discourse practices of UNESCO across different historical stages. The aim is to provide insights for China, as it navigates unprecedented global changes, to fulfill its mission as a responsible major power. The book offers a reference for contributing Chinese wisdom and strength to the development of a new social contract for education in the future.
