Comparative Education Review was changed from its original name Foreign Education Trends in January , 1992 . The aim of this Journal is to carry out the principle of “Making Foreign Things Serve China” to introduce country’s educational situations to educators ,to compare and study the education in every country and to learn foreign educational experiences so as to improve the development of our native education and to help the construction of our comparative education discipline .

This Journal was created in 1965 and Beijing Normal University was authorized by The Propaganda Department of Central Committee of Chinese Communist Party to charge in editing and publishing Foreign Education Development (published only in educational circle , from one to twelve numbers a year at random ).During the Culture Revolution (1967---1977), it was paused by force . Until 1980 it was returned to normal and published to all the parts of the country through post office .In January ,1991,The sixth Annual Conference of the Comparative Education Society of Chinese Education Association entrusted Foreign Education Development as the journal of the Comparative Education Society at the same time . It was formally changed to Comparative Education Review in 1992 . Basing on the original aims , Comparative Education Review emphasizes more strongly the comparative education study of China and foreign countries and the service for constructing the comparative education subject in China .

The main columns of Comparative Education Review is to introduce and comment themes as follows : education policies and systems in every country ,educational reform and development in all kinds and stages of schools, the new world of education development ,the construction of the comparative education subject , the study of all kinds of special topics , the report of international education conference , and review on persons and new books in education circle , etc .

The contents of Comparative Education Review are rich , new and fast for messages . So it gets a good comment from educational authority , educationists and many teachers in school . This magazine , especially its enormously introducing the ideas and experiences in the reform of foreign education ,improves highly our education development not only in theory but in practice as well . It is a high special and academic magazine in educational circle and in our central authority and gets a widespread influence in educational circle .
